Chrome for iOS updated with iOS 8 optimization, Handoff support for OS X Yosemite and more

Apple's Competitors

Google has just updated its popular third-party browser Chrome with a number of nice new features.

First up, version 40.0 brings optimization for all iOS 8 devices and support for the higher-resolution screens of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. That means both text and images should be much sharper while browsing the Web on Apple’s newest handsets.

As another nice touch, Chrome now supports Handoff in OS X Yosemite. So when surfing on an iOS device, users can quickly pick up where they left off on their Mac’s default browser.

Finally, Chrome has been updated with the Material Design that Google has been pushing on Android and its slate of iOS apps. Some highlights include bold graphics, fluid motion, and tactile surfaces.

A universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini, Chrome can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.

Google has been busy lately introducing new iOS apps while adding some major improvements to its existing slate of titles.

Just last week, both Google Translate and Google Maps both received some notable new features. And the newly introduced Google Classroom app taps into the popular service for students and educators.
