While you were away, Twitter added something to your timeline on iOS
Twitter has officially launched its new feature that highlights tweets that you might have missed while you were away from the social networking service.
This timeline recap feature was unveiled by Twitter as one of the significant service improvements it announced in November last year. It then made an initial appearance on some users’ timelines earlier this month.
But now, the feature has been officially introduced by Twitter:
A lot can happen while you’re on the go. To fill in some of those gaps, we will surface a few of the best Tweets you probably wouldn’t have seen otherwise, determined by engagement and other factors. If you check in on Twitter now and then for a quick snapshot of what’s happening, you’ll see this recap more often; if you spend a lot of time on Twitter already, you’ll see it less.
The recaps are marked with a “While you were away” heading and appear at the top of users’ timelines.
While it’s yet to arrive on Twitter’s website and Android app, the new feature is rolling out to all users of Twitter for iOS today.
Twitter for iOS is available on the App Store for free.
Being a longtime Tweetbot user, I hardly use Twitter’s official iOS app. But the new recap feature may just persuade me to check the app every once in a while to see what interesting tweets I might have missed while I was away.
