Angry Birds Seasons gets a nice update and goes free as Apple’s App of the Week
Squawk! It’s Thursday, so Apple has selected a new title to go free as its App of the Week. And if you haven’t guessed, this week’s pick is Angry Birds Seasons. The game will be free to download for the next seven days.
And along with going free, Rovio has also updated the game with the move to version 5.0.
The update continues a partnership started with the NBA last year. To celebrate the NBA All-Star Game, which happens on Sunday, Feb. 15 in New York City, the game has added 15 new levels of basketball-themed madness. One new golden egg level is also included.
In the new levels, players are given one free Shockwave power-up to use, which should help make things easier. Finally, gamers can also take a look at some fun videos on Ruffle TV.
There are two separate versions of the game to download. Angry Birds Seasons is designed for the iPhone/iPod touch while Angry Bird Seasons HD is for the larger screens of the iPad and iPad mini. As usual with this type of game, there are a number of in-app purchases available.
Anything with those angry aviators is always a hit at my house, so I’m looking forward to getting to play the new NBA All-Star levels. I’m glad to see Rovio do such a nice job continuing to add content to this and other Angry Birds games.
