LifeProof’s Fre Power case for the iPhone 6 is now available to preorder

May 14, 2015

Mophie’s Juice Pack H2PRO for the iPhone 6 now has some worthy competition. Originally teased earlier this year at CES, LifeProof has now announced buyers can preorder the Fre Power Case for the handset.

Just like the Mophie product, LifeProof’s option combines a waterproof case and backup battery.

The 2,600 mAH cell doubles the battery life of your iPhone 6, and special technology halts the charging process once your phone’s battery reaches 100 percent of capacity.

And, like other LifeProof cases, your handset can withstand being submerged in 6.6 feet of water for up to an hour. It will also protect against shock, dirt, and other elements.

All of the buttons and controls, including the Touch ID sensor, can be used with the case. The screen is covered with a built-in protector. Anti-reflective optical glass is used to protect the camera lens.

The case retails for $129.99, and buyers can select from three different colors – white, black, or blue. The white case is estimated to be in stock tomorrow while the black case will arrive in mid-June. There’s no availability date listed for the blue version.

You can also purchase a number of other accessories compatible with the case like a belt clip, bike mount, or suction mount. Those range in price from $29.99 to $39.99.

I’ll be interested to see how the Fre Power and Juice Pack H2PRO compare, especially since their prices are identical. But they both look like great options if you’re looking to take your iPhone 6 to extremes this summer.
