Line now lets you use its emoji and stickers in other messaging apps
Do you enjoy chatting on Line using the popular messaging app’s special emoji and stickers as much as I do? Then, like I am, you’re in luck. That’s because Line has just launched a new keyboard app that allows the use of Line emoji and stickers outside of Line itself.
Aptly named Emoji Keyboard by Line, the app lets you make your chat sessions in other apps (such as Apple’s Messages app and Facebook Messenger) more fun and lively with thousands of emoji and stickers (including animated ones) from Line. Of course, these emoji and stickers feature Line’s adorable mascots, Brown and Cony, along with other expressive characters.
As with other keyboard apps, use of Emoji Keyboard by Line requires that you enable it first by going to Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard and then turning on “Allow Full Access” for it. Rest assured that, contrary to the notice that pops up (see below), Line maintains that the app doesn’t collect sensitive information such as your credit card details and addresses.
And as in other emoji and sticker keyboard apps, to send an emoji or sticker in Emoji Keyboard by Line, you first have to tap an emoji or sticker to copy it and then paste it onto the message field as a photo or GIF. Unfortunately, but not unexpectedly, Emoji Keyboard by Line doesn’t support automatic emoji and sticker suggestions, which have long been available in Line’s main messaging app.
Interestingly, Emoji Keyboard by Line is out now around the world except in three countries where Line is already quite popular: Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand. Apparently, Line is hoping that the keyboard app can be fun and lively enough to encourage users in other markets to try and use Line itself.
