Pushbullet gets redesigned for easier file and link sharing

Getting Stuff Done
July 1, 2015

Pushbullet has just been pushed to version 2.0 with a new design that effectively makes it a messaging app as well as a file-sharing app.

Streamlined interface

Pushbullet 2.0 comes with a new interface that’s divided into four sections, between which you can easily switch just by swiping sideways or tapping their icons at the top.

There’s the Me section, where you can find the files and links you’ve shared and share new ones between your own devices. There’s also a separate section for sharing with your friends and another for following your favorite channels. And there’s also the section for the app’s settings.

Sharing is now as easy as messaging

Pushbullet’s revamped design mimics the familiar interface of a messaging app as it seeks to make sharing files and links as easy as sending chat messages.

Now, whether you’re sharing files or links between your devices or sending stuff to your friends, you just have to attach a photo or paste a link as you would in a typical messaging app.

What’s more, you can now chat and reply with your friends and talk about your shared files and links or about anything else for that matter. You can also preview, save and re-share items without leaving the conversation view.

To help you connect with your friends more easily, Pushbullet can now search through your contacts to suggest friends who are also already using the app and be able to send your pushed items to those who aren’t yet.

Pushbullet 2.0

Available on iOS and other platforms

Pushbullet 2.0 is available now on the App Store for free. It’s compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.1 or later.

The key improvements brought by the 2.0 update to Pushbullet for iOS have also been reflected in the app’s Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Opera versions, and are said to be coming soon to Pushbullet for Mac.

Pushbullet has long been one of my most used productivity and utility apps as it offers a cross-platform alternative to AirDrop and a more elegant approach to sharing files and links than email and iMessage. That’s why I’m pleased to see the arrival of Pushbullet 2.0 with its interface and ease-of-use refinements.
