Grab the great Afterlight photo editor for free via the Apple Store app
We here at AppAdvice have been big fans of Afterlight ever since its launch (as Afterglow) three years ago. And a growing number of users have been enjoying this truly excellent photo-editing app as well, as evidenced by its persistent presence on the top paid charts on the App Store.
But if you happen to be one of the iOS device users who still haven’t downloaded Afterlight, now’s your chance to get it for free, instead of its regular price of $0.99.
Here’s how
For a limited time only, you can get Afterlight at no cost through the official Apple Store app, which is free to download from the App Store. Just go to the Featured section of the Apple Store app (not to be confused with the App Store app) on your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad. Then, scroll down the section until you see the banner that says, “Download Afterlight free,” as shown in this screenshot:
Tap this banner to bring up the download screen for Afterlight, which includes the following description for the app:
Afterlight will transform your images with adjustable filters, fun light leaks, and interesting textures. Add the final touches with the perfect crop and a beautiful frame before sharing to your favorite social network.
Tap “Download now for free” at the bottom of the screen, tap “Continue” on the dialog box that appears to open the App Store app, enter your Apple ID password when prompted, check that your unique promo code is automatically entered in the resulting code redemption screen, tap “Redeem” at the top-right corner, and there you go. Afterlight is now downloaded to your iOS device, free of charge.
And since it’s a universal iOS app, Afterlight is readily available for your iPad once you’ve successfully downloaded it to your iPhone or iPod touch, and vice versa.
Note, though, that while it’s free to download, Afterlight still includes in-app purchases for unlocking additional content packs, including premium filters and wallpapers.
Optimized for iPhone 6s
This Afterlight freebie through the Apple Store app is apparently offered in promotion of the iPhone 6s. “Enhance your photos,” Apple says in the banner for the freebie. “Take your photography to the next level with filters and effects — enhanced for the new iPhone 6s.”
Indeed, Afterlight has been enhanced for the iPhone 6s with support for 3D Touch, allowing users of Apple’s latest smartphone to preview with Peek and Pop when selecting photos.
