Marvel at the new features in version 5.0 of this popular prototyping app
Marvel, the no-coding-required prototyping tool that has been used by the likes of Rdio and Monument Valley creator Ustwo, has just updated its official app for iOS to version 5.0 with a number of enhancements.
How it worksNot to be confused with any app by the entertainment company of the same name, Marvel lets you design apps right on your iOS device by turning sketches and mockups into tappable app prototypes. This allows you to share and pitch your ideas in a more interactive way than the conventional PowerPoint presentation or the clunky email attachment.
With Marvel, you can take photos of your designs on paper, add mockups from Dropbox or Adobe Creative Cloud, or draw right on your iOS device to start with the wireframes of your app. You can then link the various screens of your app together using touch areas or hotspots. Press play to demo your app in progress or share your prototype via email, text, Facebook, Twitter, or wherever you can send its URL.
What’s newIn its just released version 5.0, Marvel now sports a tab bar layout that lets you easily access your projects, open the app’s settings, and download a special template for sketching ideas. There’s also a new Explore tab that lets you browse prototypes created by other Marvel users, and like, comment on and derive inspiration from them.
Marvel 5.0 also includes the following interface improvements:
- Improved the experience when you delete images from the project: you can now hold to delete or move in one action
- New editor design, including replace and duplicate options
- A new, slightly addictive pull-to-refresh design
- Less annoying loaders in the app
- You can now change your avatar in Settings
Moreover, the latest update to Marvel features support for two of Apple’s latest technologies. One, it optimizes the app for the ultra high resolution of the iPad Pro. And two, it integrates the app with 3D Touch, enabling you to press down on an app screen within Marvel to quickly add hotspots, or on the app’s icon on the home screen to quickly create a project or view popular prototypes in Explore.
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 9.0 or later, Marvel 5.0 is available now on the App Store for free.
Marvel also works on the Apple Watch, allowing you to view your app sketches, mockups, and designs right on your wrist.
