'Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials' catches up with official endless running game

The Maze was only the beginning. Because next comes the Scorch.

Last year, The Maze Runner was launched on iOS to tie in with the theatrical premiere of the “Hunger Games“-esque science fiction action thriller film of the same name

Now, a follow-up title called Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials has come out on iOS in anticipation of the home video release of the eponymous movie sequel.

Something WCKD this way comes

In the sequel, based on the horror dystopian novel “The Scorch Trials” by James Dashner, Thomas (played by Dylan O’Brien) and his fellow Gladers have escaped the Maze only to face a double threat in the form of a desolate yet dangerous landscape called the Scorch and a powerful organization called WCKD.

Inspired by the film’s plot and production design, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials for iOS challenges you to get on the run with the Gladers across the Scorch.

Run, Gladers, run

Indeed, just like its predecessor, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is naturally a running game. Specifically, it’s an endless runner in the tradition of Temple Run and Subway Surfers.

Maze Runner- The Scorch Trials squad

In the game, you play with a Glader squad of your choosing and use tap-and-swipe controls to help them navigate the obstacle-filled Scorch. You’re also tasked to earn coins and collect supplies and outfits to upgrade your runners as they try to evade and foil WCKD.

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is available now on the App Store for free, with in-app purchases for buying in-game items.

“Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” is out now on digital HD and is set to be released on Blu-Ray and DVD on Tuesday, Dec. 15.

I quite liked “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” when I watched it shortly after its theatrical release in September. And I look forward to reliving the experience by playing Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, especially considering that it’s of the enjoyable and often unputdownable endless running genre.
