For many of us, getting healthy and losing weight was near the top of our New Year’s resolutions list. And a great app to help accomplish those goals, MyFitnessPal’s Calorie Counter and Diet Tracker, has added a nice new feature.

Making healthy eating choices

As you could probably guess by the name, Restaurant Logging helps users makes better decisions while eating out.

You can find calorie and nutrition information from more than 500,000 U.S. restaurants.

Users can quickly and easily log food choices at restaurants. You can view calorie and nutrition information from more than 500,000 restaurants in the United States.

As a nice touch, you can also view a map of nearby restaurant menus so you can see which one is the best fit for calorie goals for the day.

Here’s how to access the new feature:

Open MyFitnessPal. Tap the blue + button at the bottom of the page. Tap Food. Select which meal you’d like to log. Tap the location icon to the right of the search bar.

MyFitnessPal’s Calorie Counter and Diet Tracker app can be downloaded now on the App Store for free. It’s designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini.

Back in May, the new premium tier was added to the service that can be unlocked with an in-app purchase of $9.99 per month or $49.99 per year.

Along with an ad-free experience, premium users can take advantage of a customizable dashboard with progress and macronutrient goals, a large database with foods verified for calorie and nutrient counts, access to exclusive content such as original recipes and nutrition tips, and VIP customer support.

Fitness in a box

And Under Armour, which purchased MyFitnessPal back in 2015, also made news at CES this week in Las Vegas with the introduction of the HealthBox Fitness Tracking system.
