Find zombody to love in Plants vs. Zombies 2's Valenbrainz event

Love is in the air in Plants vs. Zombies 2. And that’s thanks to a Valentine’s Day-themed event that has just kicked off in the wildly popular sequel to the original Plants vs. Zombies lane defense strategy game from PopCap.

My zombie valentine

This time last year, Plants vs. Zombies 2 ran the Zombie Hug-a-thon from Feb. 3 to 14 in celebration of Valenbrainz.

Now, the game is celebrating Valenbrainz once again with a 13-day mega event that starts today, Feb. 2, and runs through Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.

This year’s Valenbrainz event features six lovesick zombies, 11 new Valentine’s Day-themed levels, and collectible Valentine’s Day-themed costumes. It also features new plants including the Premium Plant and the seasonally appropriate Blooming Heart, which catapults heart-shaped projectiles and, just like love, inflicts more damage with each hit.

Check out the trailer for this year’s Valenbrainz event (which is pretty much the same as last year’s):

Modern Day Part 2 coming soon

Apart from the Valenbrainz event, this month also sees the introduction of the second part of the Modern Day world, which was inaugurated last month (see trailer below), in Plants vs. Zombies 2.

Set to arrive on Feb. 16, Modern Day Part 2 will have you going back to the future with 16 new levels along with collectible costumes, new plants, and a couple of returning zombies.

In addition to the Premium Plant, the new plants include Escape Root (“an armed trap plant that can switch places with other plants, and when threatened, can substitute itself with an explosive plant like Potatomine or Cherry Bomb”) and Grimrose (“a plant that slinks into the shadows and appears underneath its target”), and Dusk-lobber (“a plant that shoots projectiles into multiple lanes”).

The returning zombies include All-Star Zombie (“a zombie heavily armored thanks to his football gear who can rush down lanes at a fast pace”) and Super-Fan Imp (“an explosive zombie that can damage nearby plants”).
