Jailbreak Tweaks
Articles that help jailbreakers tweak the Apple OS to do something that Apple didn't intend, but may be useful. New Way to multi-task, more icons in dock, tethering, etc
A couple of days ago, we told you about Dashboard X - an upcoming jailbreak tweak that allows users to add widgets to their iOS device's Home screen. Now, the package is finally available to download in the Cydia Store, where it can be purchased (via the ModMyi repository) for $1.99.
A jailbreak tweak called Giffy can make your iPhone’s Photos app compatible with GIFs, allowing users to view animated images on their handset from within the native application.
If you're widget-crazy, consider downloading Dashboard X - an upcoming jailbreak tweak that can add Notification Center-style widgets to an iPhone's (or iPad's) Home screen.
If you keep accidentally activating Notification Center in your favorite full-screen iOS app, consider downloading DisableNC Switch – a jailbreak tweak that allows users to disable Notification Center for full-screen applications.
AT&T might be unlocking off-contract iPhones, and it might even be possible to unlock jailbroken iPhone 4 and 4S handsets using the SAM package, but that doesn't mean the folks over at Applenberry are giving up.
The iPhone Dev-Team has recently released an updated version of redsn0w, which allows jailbreakers to back-up their iPhone's activation tickets thanks to the SAM unlock. Now, instead of manually backing-up activation tickets using, for example, iFile, jailbreak fans can have redsn0w do all the work for them.
The Chinese iPhone hacker Loktar_Sun has, according to a number of reports, released an unlock method that supports Apple's iPhone 4S. In order to take advantage of the solution, all you need is a jailbroken iPhone handset that iTunes is recognising (i.e., that hasn't been blacklisted).
If you’re the kind of jailbreaker who likes to spice-up an iPhone’s Lock screen, but cares for settings toggles rather than weather widgets, consider downloading LSCameraExtender.
FastLock ($0.99) is a new jailbreak tweak that can add a number of handy shortcuts to users' Lock Screen. Once downloaded and installed, a series of actions can be performed from the Lock Screen simply after double-pressing the Home button. As you can see in the above image, the tweak has been well designed and looks like something we could imagine Apple developing.
FireCore has recently updated its Apple TV jailbreak software, aTV Flash (black), to version 1.5. Now, users of the software can enjoy a number of new features, including NFS streaming and a much-improved media player.
The jailbreak utility iTransmission - a BitTorrent client for iPhone - has recently received an update, and is available to download in the Cydia Store.
The iPhone Dev-Team has recently pushed out an update for its jailbreak software, redsn0w. However, don't get too excited - the new version of redsn0w (0.9.10b6b) doesn't include new functionality, nor does it bring support for Apple's newest iOS devices and iOS versions. Instead, this minor update improves support for OS X 10.5.x and earlier.
The new Notification Center Apple added in iOS 5 is great, but there’s one obvious shortcoming. Because the company decided not to create HD, iPad versions of its Stock and Weather iPhone apps, Notification Center on Apple’s tablet unfortunately doesn’t feature a stock or weather widget. Even if you’ve managed to find a third-party iPad app, via which you can get your financial and meteorological fix, Notification Center nevertheless looks rather empty.
Apple's slide-to-unlock feature works fine, but it's not exactly an exciting way to unlock one's iOS device. Fortunately for us, a new jailbreak tweak called "Stride" makes iPhone-unlocking more enjoyable than ever before: once downloaded and installed, users can create an 8-bit visual password which must be drawn, in order to bypass the iPhone's lock screen.
TinyUmbrella - a Mac and Windows app that allows users to save their iOS device's SHSH blobs and BBTickets, in order to downgrade iOS version at a later date - has just received an update. Now, in version 5.10.12 of the application, users can save their BBTickets from an iPhone 4 (both GSM and CDMA) and iPhone 4S for later use.
