Apple Launches iBooks Twitter Account, Promotes Harry Potter

Apple has used the account to promote J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child"

Apple has, as you might have expected, launched an official Instagram account for its iBooks platform. There, the company is promoting titles available for iOS and Mac users to download and read on their devices, and at the minute Cupertino is shining a light on the latest release from Harry Potter creator J.R. Rowling.

None of the posts link to the iBooks platform.

The account, @iBooks, is up and running right now, and as you can see, some of the more recent of the account’s 15 posts are dedicated to the release of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.” Though a play on London's West End, rather than a conventional Potter novel, the story's script is nevertheless being released for fans everywhere to read. It seems Apple's account editors even got to see the play performed, and the team published the below comment on one of its Cursed Child posts:

So…we got to see #HarryPotter and the #CursedChild on stage in London and all we can say is…WHOA. It’s got magic, it’s got suspense, it’s got drama and crazy twists. It’s dark and it’s funny. If you need us, we’ll be busy reading the book, so we can experience it all over again! #HPScriptBook

This latest move forms part of Apple's wider push towards social media. Before now, the company has been launching Twitter accounts left, right, and center, and Instagram seems a great place to continue this expansion with. Surprisingly, as AppleInsider observes, none of the posts published at the @iBooks Instagram account link to the iBooks platform itself. This, of course, could change further down the line, perhaps once the team behind the account has drummed up a suitable following.
