Apple TV Users Can Now Take Advantage of the Sling TV Cloud DVR Feature
After originally unveiling the feature in late 2016, Apple TV users can now take advantage of the Sling TV Cloud DVR feature.
Up to 50 hours of recorded television
Anyone interested in cutting the cord can take adavantage of Sling TV on iOS devices, the Apple TV, and Mac.
Costing an additional $5 per month with any subscription, Apple TV users will receive 50 hours of DVR storage.
Current subscribers can activate the feature by going to Sling’s site and then selecting “Add Cloud DVR.”
While not available on all channels, the feature will allow subscribers to record multiple programs at the same time without having to worry about recording conflicts.
Users can also keep the recordings as long as they subscribe to the service.
If you ever reach the 50 hour capacity, older recordings will be deleted to make room for new shows. That will automatically start with shows you’ve already watched.
For now, the feature isn’t available on the iPhone or iPad.
A growing market
There are two different Sling TV packages for subscribers to select from.
Sling Orange only allows one device to be viewing content and includes 28 live TV channels including big names like ESPN, CNN, BBC America, AMC, Lifetime, TNT, and TBS. You can subscribe after the free trial for $20 per month. If you’re looking to watch more than one stream at a time, the Sling Blue service offers 44 channels for $25 per month.
A number of add-on bundles are also available for an additional cost. You can take advantage of a seven-day free trial by signing up here.
While Sling TV was the first major live TV streaming service available for iOS and Apple TV users, the market is continuing to get more crowded – which is a good thing for consumers. Sony’s PlayStation Vue and DirecTV Now launched in 2016, and Hulu’s anticipated service could arrive by mid-May.
