While third-party stickers and animations seem to be getting all the hype around the launch of the new and improved iMessages in iOS 10, make no mistake: There’s much more to iMessage extensions than those. Case in point: the iMessage app of Alto, the acclaimed email app by AOL.

One of the major selling points of Alto is a feature called Stacks, with which emails are automatically and smartly grouped together. One important Stack is Photos, which gathers all of the photo attachments across all connected email accounts. And the Photos Stack happens to be the focus of Alto’s iMessage extension.

Before, if you wanted to send a photo from your email to someone via iMessage, you first have to open the Mail app, find the photo among the many messages in your account, bring up the share menu, and select the option for iMessage sharing. Now, with Alto’s iMessage extension, you can quickly and easily send a photo from your email via iMessage right within Messages, without having to leave Messages.

With the Alto iMessage app duly installed in Messages, all you have to do is open the App Drawer, browse the grid of Alto’s Photos Stack images obtained from your email accounts, select a photo, and send. That’s it: hassle-free email photo attachment sharing with your family, friends, and coworkers all done in iMessage.

Aside from Stacks, Alto also features Cards, which lets you get important details at a glance about your upcoming travel plans, recent shopping activities, and more. These Cards are neatly organized in the Dashboard.

And in iOS 10, Dashboard items along with several Photos Stack images are now conveniently shown in Alto’s new Today widget, and Cards for shipping, hotels, flights, rental cars, and more are now easily accessible from the lock screen with Alto’s new notifications.
