Battle to Amuse Gods of Germanic Myth in Lichtspeer
The Game Developers Conference in San Francisco might be over, but that hasn’t stopped Trevor Sheridan from letting us know about more cool new titles that are coming up soon. One of the coolest looking upcoming games is Lichtspeer, a title that’s been available on PlayStation 4 and desktop computers for a few months and is being ported to iOS. In Lichtspeer, you’re battling for the glory and amusement of gods from Germanic myth.
A Mixture of Germanic Myth and Futuristic Fighting
Survival is an art form in this world filled with Penguin Zombies and Hipster Ice Giants. The gods of Germanic myth, bored and frustrated with the imbalance of the world, have called upon you to battle for their glory and amusement. All you have at your disposal are your skills and trusty lichtspeers, light spears. You are fixed in place, and have to fight off hordes of beasts from another dimension, including Wurst Zombies, Evil Spacedwarfs, Skater Walruses, and even a Viking pirate king. You have to aim carefully, sending your lichtspeers hurtling through the air to decapitate your enemies.
Discover the Lands of the Ancient Germanic Future
Lichtspeer is a combination of mythology and futuristic science fiction, with enemies that are inspired by the old tales of the past and the modernistic stylings of the future. As you fight, you’ll be backed by a soundtrack composed by Marcin Sonnenberg, ranging from electro-space marches to the vibrating sounds of technocumbia.
Aim Quickly and Well or Displease the Gods
You have to remember that in Lichtspeer, you’re fighting for the amusement and glory of the gods of Germanic myth. If you miss too many times in a row, those same gods that have blessed you with your superhuman skills will slow you down just to make the battle more amusing for them. Your death, after all, is a suitable punishment for failing to enchant them with your battle prowess.
A Game Still Several Months Away
Lichtspeer is expected to be released for iOS in the latter half of 2017. It will be a premium title on the App Store, but pricing is not yet available. Check out the action in the video below to see how it’s shaping up.
