Apple Unveils iPhone 8 / 8 Plus (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition
You can now purchase a (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. Like the regular editions, both phones feature a glass enclosure with a matching aluminum band and black front.
The new iPhones will be available to pre-order in select countries beginning tomorrow, April 10. They will arrive in stores starting this Friday, April 13.
Additionally, Apple has introduced a new $99 (PRODUCT)RED iPhone X Leather Folio, which will also be available beginning Tuesday.
As Apple explains:
A portion of proceeds for all (PRODUCT)RED purchases go directly to Global Fund HIV/AIDS grants that provide testing, counseling, treatment and prevention programs with a specific focus on eliminating transmission of the virus from mothers to their babies. Since partnering with (RED) in 2006, Apple has donated more than $160 million to the Global Fund, serving as the organization’s largest corporate donor.
The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition will be available in 64GB and 256GB models. It joins iPhone 8 finishes in space gray, silver, and gold.
Both new models are available to order beginning tomorrow at 5:30 a.m. PDT in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States. Other countries will follow later this month.
Today’s announcement makes no mention of new colors for the flagship iPhone X. That handset, which begins at $999, is only available in silver and space gray.
