Even though it could be eight months or more before Apple’s 2017 iPhone lineup is revealed, we continue to hear more interesting information about the handset lineup. The latest information is coming from prolific leaker Sonny Dickinson via Forbes.

Tap to Wake?

Tap to Wake?

First up, Dickinson believes there will be three new models – the high-end and massively redesigned “iPhone 8” with a curved OLED screen and an “iPhone 7s” and “iPhone 7s Plus” with LCD screens that will look similar to the current models.

All three iPhones will include a special chip to manage the charging port:

“In normal people words… [it] will include fast charging,” he explained.

While that’s great news and a highly-requested feature, Dickinson was unable to provide any more information about how the technology will work.

The high-end “iPhone 8,” according to Dickinson, will also feature a Tap to Wake feature. That means you could just tap the iPhone to view the lockscreen and notifications.

It’s also a step up from the Raise to Wake feature in iOS 10 that can be used with an iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPhone SE.
