Parenting Hero on Mobile Is a Simple Parenting App With Serious Credentials
Parenting Hero is a new app that helps take the guesswork out of taking care of kids. It's based largely on one of the biggest parenting books around.
They say there's no manual for parenting. Except there are thousands of them. In bookshops, you'll find entire sections dedicated to manuals on everything from how to get your baby to sleep to choosing the right university or college.
"How to Talk so Little Kids Will Listen: A Survival Guide to Life with Children Ages 2-7" by Joanna Faber and Julie King is one of the most popular and respected of these manuals.
These best-selling authors have now teamed up with developer MythicOwl to create Parenting Hero, a smart gamified parenting app that illustrates the best ways to speak and respond to your young children in a variety of different situations.
The app aims to help you navigate parenting issues such as coping with negative feelings, setting limits, creating goodwill, resolving conflicts, using praise, and more. Parenting Hero is available on iOS now, and it's coming to Android early in 2018.
The game is illustrated with charming hand-drawn artwork, lending it a lovely book-like feel. The parenting guidance is organized into different worlds," each containing several stages, just like a real game!
Each stage gives you three options in terms of how you want to respond to your child. The right response is often less obvious than you might expect.
Whatever choice you make, Parenting Hero will give you feedback explaining the ramifications of your action. You'll also see different outcomes presented in cartoon and text format, so you can observe exactly how the situation is resolved.
Parenting Hero looks like a useful and interesting app for anyone new to parenting. You can download the app in the App Store.
