Scanner Pro 7 is here with OCR and other enhancements
Made by Readdle (the same developer behind other acclaimed productivity apps including PDF Expert and Spark), Scanner Pro 7 turns iOS devices into portable scanners as it offers users quick and easy ways to scan documents and save them as shareable files.
Launched back in 2009, the popular document scanning has really come a long way. And today, it has reached another milestone in its development as it has just been updated with three new significant features.
Key features of Scanner Pro
Scan
Scanner Pro allows you to easily scan documents, receipts, tickets, and more using your iOS device’s camera — with automatic border detection and shadow removal thrown in for good measure — and save your scans as multi-page PDF or JPEG files.
Share
You can easily email or print your scanned documents. Moreover, you can upload them to various online storage services, including Dropbox, Evernote, Google Drive, iCloud, OneDrive, or any other WebDAV-enabled online storage.
Sort
You can also organize your files into folders so you can quickly find the scans you need.
New features in Scanner Pro 7
Scanner Pro was updated to version 6.0 in July with a new design, scan re-editing, favorite file destinations, OneDrive and OneNote integration, automatic scanning, and a new Scan Radar that finds documents for scanning in the camera roll.

Now, Scanner Pro 7 is here, and it introduces, most notably, optical character recognition, along with distortion correction and support for workflows.
Optical character recognition
Scanbot, perhaps Scanner Pro’s foremost rival, has long been offering optical character recognition (OCR), albeit as a premium feature available via in-app purchase.
Now, with its 7.0 update, Scanner Pro has caught up with the competition with regard to support for OCR.
Scanner Pro 7 lets you scan pages of documents, magazines, books, and other files and have them automatically converted into searchable PDFs from which words can be easily extracted for sharing, note-taking, and other purposes.
Scanner Pro’s OCR is currently compatible with 12 languages: English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, Dutch, Turkish, Polish, Swedish and Norwegian.
Distortion correction
According to Readdle, distortion correction in Scanner Pro 7 is “a new technology that makes your scans look super clean and professional” and “removes shadows, fixes geometry, detects size of documents and much more.” This enables you to scan open books, magazines, or any other paper documents and get distortion-free images.
Workflows
Want to speed up and streamline scanning and sharing? Scanner Pro 7 also gives you the ability to create workflows through which you can process and share your scans in a single tap, e.g. send an email with a defined recipient, upload to Dropbox, and save the document to the required folder.
More improvements
Scanner Pro 7 also features improved color processing, which enhances the quality of scans with original pictures, color stamps, and signatures. It also includes refinements to major screens for faster and easier use.

Scanner Pro wouldn’t have lasted for as long as it has if it didn’t offer and continually expand on a robust feature set for quick and easy mobile scanning. More than merely scanning documents, the app incorporates automatic border detection, shadow removal, distortion correction, optical character recognition, workflow integration, and other technologies to let you do more with the files you care about.
