Turn It on and Turn It up, Facebook Video Is Now on Apple TV
It was just a few weeks ago, Feb. 14, 2017 to be exact, that Facebook announced improvements were on the way for watching videos. Expected enhancements were to include bringing sound to clips in your news feed and picture-in-picture views as you scroll. In addition, the company announced changes to the Apple TV app that would take those videos to a new level.
That time has arrived and if you have not yet checked out the Facebook Video app on your fourth-generation Apple TV, then you might just be missing out.
Our video app for TV is a new way to enjoy Facebook videos on a bigger screen. Last year we rolled out the ability for you to stream videos from Facebook to your TV, and today’s announcement expands this capability.
- Facebook NewsroomBrowse the videos
The videos are organized nicely when you open the app. You can check out those shared by friends, who you are following, recommendations tailored to you, the top live videos, and those you have recently watched.
Within each section, just swipe to the right to see all of the videos in that category. Or, let the videos play automatically in the order they are shown.
Add your reaction
You can add reactions to videos on the Apple TV app, just like on the mobile app. Hold down on your Siri remote touchpad to display the reactions. Then, use the touchpad to move to the reaction you want and click.
If you change your mind, select the” X” in the center to close the reactions.
Get more details
You can open the videos in full screen mode for a better viewing experience. Just click the video with your Siri remote touchpad to enter this mode. You can then check out further details.
Swipe down to access available information, to save the video, or head directly to that Facebook channel.
Swipe up to see additional videos related to the one you are viewing.
So, whether it’s breaking news, cute animals, or hilarious outtakes, you can now watch your favorite Facebook videos on Apple TV. The interface is clean and simple, the reaction feature is handy and fun, and the overall experience so far is a good one.
