With a March event looming, some iPads become harder to find
If we needed more evidence that a successor to the iPad Air 2 is coming soon, we’ve received it from a familiar channel. A recent report from AppleInsider points out that several older models of the iPad are growing more difficult to find, as resellers are experiencing low or no stock of those configurations.
Drying up stock affects resellers
The iPad Air 2 and original iPad Air are still quite available from Apple itself, but several resellers are having difficulties locating stock. B&H, Adorama, and Staples appear to be the hardest hit, judging by the pricing guides that AppleInsider maintains.
The iPad mini has taken a hit, too
Older versions of the iPad mini are also starting to dry up. While supplies of the iPad mini 4 are still strong, the original iPad mini and iPad mini 2 are much harder to find. This doesn’t really signify a new model of the smaller tablet; it’s more than likely the expected results of the recently-released iPad mini 4.
Will it be ‘iPad Air 3’ or ‘9.7-inch iPad Pro’
We’ve been hearing rumors for some time about a refreshed version of the 9.7-inch iPad. What’s not really clear, however, is whether it will be called the “iPad Air 3” or the “9.7-inch iPad Pro.” Given recent leaks suggesting a smaller Smart Keyboard and the inclusion of the Smart Connector on the 9.7-inch tablet, I’m guessing it will be a new iteration of the iPad Pro, but in a smaller form factor.
