Snapchat updated with improved captions, stacked filters and iPhone 6 support

December 10, 2014

Snapchat has just received a small update that delivers several notable improvements.

The latest update to the popular ephemeral photo and video messaging app introduces new features for Snap captions. Now, you can change the color of Special Text, pinch to resize text, and drag text around the screen to adjust its position.

The update also adds support for stacked filters, allowing you to stack a Snap filter on top of another. After adding a filter, just press and hold with one finger and swipe with another to add a second filter to your Snap.

And last but not least, the new Snapchat update adds the app's long-awaited full resolution support for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.0 or later, Snapchat is available on the App Store for free.

This update follows the significant developments introduced to Snapchat in recent months. In late August, the location-based Our Story feature officially went “Live” in the app. In October, the app's first ever ad materialized. And in November, it gained a new Square-powered peer-to-peer money transfer feature called Snapcash.

Snapchat's growing popularity has led to the “cloning” of its core ephemeral messaging features in other apps, including Facebook's Slingshot and BlackBerry's BBM.
