Star Walk 2 updated with new 'Planets' info pack and other enhancements
A significant update has just landed on Star Walk 2, the sequel to the acclaimed Star Walk astronomy guide app developed by Vito Technology.
The latest update to Star Walk 2 brings a new gallery for constellations, new and improved models for some satellites, and bug fixes.
Most notably, the update introduces a galaxy of additional content accessible through a new “Planets” info pack, which features the following:
- 3D models of the inner structure of the planets – zoom-in, zoom-out, spin and explore the layers
- Maps of planets’ features – learn the names of the mountains, volcanos of Venus, craters on Moon
- Read exclusive stories of exploratory missions and see the spacecraft models, objectives and results, real-time positions of active orbiting spacecrafts and landing sites of the missions
- High-resolution maps of Venus, and the Moon.
The Planets info pack is available via a $0.99 in-app purchase or as part of the $2.99 all-in-one in-app purchase.

In keeping with the spirit of the holiday season, the latest update to Star Walk 2 also lets you track Santa as he makes his way around the world, across the sky.
Star Walk 2 was updated a couple of weeks ago with special content about Mars, aka the red planet, as part of Apple’s recently concluded Apps for (RED) anti-AIDS charity initiative on the App Store.
Star Walk 2 was named AppAdvice’s App of the Week following its launch in August.
Star Walk Kids, the special edition of Star Walk that’s tailored for little astronomers, was also named AppAdvice’s App of the Week shortly after its release in September.
