Gameloft Tops 20 Million Paid iOS App Downloads
September 21, 2010
Gameloft announced today that they have sold over 20 million copies of their iOS games since the App Store began. That's twice as many from what the company reported back in January of this year. To double your 8-digit sales figures in 8 months seems quite impressive to me.
"The first half of 2010 marks a new step for us on the App Store," declared Michel Guillemot, President of Gameloft. "The launch of the iPad and iPhone 4 has opened new horizons for developers and allowed us once again to transform our consumers gaming experience. 20 million paid downloads is proof that our games meet the expectations of our players and we will continue to satisfy them."So far, Gameloft has released 47 iPhone and iPad games just this year. What I find to be even more astonishing is 25 of their games reached the number one spot with 42 titles able to climb to the top 5 best-selling games position in the App Store. Some upcoming titles to be released yet this year include iPad native games like NFL 2011 HD, Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles HD, and Spider-Man: Total Mayhem HD. Dungeon Hunter 2, Gangstar: Miami Vindication, Star Battalion and Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus (also available on the iPad) will be debuting for iPhone and iPod touch owners. We've gotten up a number of reviews this year of Gameloft's creations, including Gangstar: West Coast Hustle, Let's Golf 2, Hero of Sparta II, Splinter Cell Conviction HD, Spider-Man: Total Mayhem, and Real Golf 2011 Which Gameloft titles have become your favorites, and which are you most looking forward to?
