Ashton Kutcher Serves Up Some Steve Jobs Wisdom At The Teen Choice Awards

August 13, 2013
Ashton Kutcher, who recently played Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in a film biopic, served up a slice of "Jobsian" wisdom during his acceptance speech at Nickelodeon’s Teen Choice Awards. After revealing that his first name is actually "Chris," the actor went on to offer a three-part piece of advice to his young audience. First, Kutcher explained that "opportunities look a lot like work." No job was ever beneath him, and Kutcher adds that he never quit a job until he had something else lined up. Next, the actor explained his personal philosophy of sex appeal: "the sexiest thing in the entire world is being really smart, and being thoughtful, and being generous," and everything else, he added, "is crap - I promise you." Following this, however, came a piece of wisdom Kutcher attributed to the late Steve Jobs. He said:
When you grow up, you tend to get told that the world is the way that it is. And that your life is to live your life inside the world, and try not to get in too much trouble, and maybe get an education, and get a job, and make some money and have a family. But life can be a lot broader than that when you realize one simple thing: that everything around us that we call life was made up by people that are no smarter than you. And you can build your own things. You can build your own life. Build a life. Don’t live one, build one.
Profound, smart, insightful. Below, we've included a video of Kutcher's acceptance speech. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fepUlDbx5Y&feature=youtu.be
