Skype's iOS Apps Get A Leaner, Cleaner Design For iOS 7

October 7, 2013
Microsoft might own Skype, but that doesn't mean the service's popular iOS apps have fallen by the wayside. Following several impressive updates, one of which brought high definition calling to iOS users, both Skype for iPhone and Skype for iPad have now been optimized for Apple's iOS 7. As you might expect, this means both apps have received a leaner, cleaner design, which fits in with the flatter, more minimalistic mobile OS. Besides adding a "refreshed look and feel" for iOS 7, version 4.13 also makes a number of accessibility improvements to the applications, including:
  • Improved accessibility of dialpad with touchtype support
  • VoiceOver announces the senders name when messaging
  • VoiceOver improvements for group chats
Finally, the usual bug fixes have also been made in the updated apps. Skype for iPhone and Skype for iPad can be downloaded free of charge in the App Store now.
