Terraria Got Into The Christmas Spirit This Week Thanks To A Fun, Festive Update
In case you missed it, the popular sandbox iOS app Terraria got a nice update this week, adding a touch of festive fun to the application. The app, which offers iDevice users a Minecraft-like experience in 2-D, rather than 3-D, can be downloaded for $4.99 and is optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Three new Christmas-themed features have been added to Terraria in its latest update. First, a “Christmas ornament” could now drop from trees after they've been cut down, and second, users can utilize this special item to summon Elfa, a “Christmas Pet.” Finally, enemies may now leave presents for users after they've been defeated in the game.
Here's a complete list of changes made in the app, as outlined in Terraria's release notes:
- Snag a sweet Christmas ornament while chopping down trees.
- Summon Elfa, the brand new Christmas Pet, with your newly discovered ornament.
- Fight on! Vanquished foes may have presents to leave you.
- Create a new world to discover new Pets.
- Various bug fixes including multiplayer sync issue while fighting Wall of Flesh.
Terraria got an honorable mention in our AppAdvice Game Of The Week article back on Sept. 6, losing out on the top position to the similar (but better) app, Junk Jack X. Plus, since its release in the App Store Terraria has been continually improved through regular updates, which appeared in both October and November.
Back in November, one such update added local multiplayer (over Wi-Fi) to the application, allowing gamers to adventure with friends or to engage in player-versus-player duels.
If you're looking for a fun 2-D sandbox game, consider taking Terraria for a spin. As mentioned, the updated application can be downloaded for $4.99, and is optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
