Microsoft Updates Xbox Music For iOS With Offline Playback Support For Playlists

January 8, 2014
Microsoft has just updated the Xbox Music for iOS with a much-requested major feature. Xbox Music for iOS is, of course, the official iOS client of Microsoft's music streaming service of the same name. As such, it requires an Xbox Music Pass to function properly. Released last September, Xbox Music received its first major update in October, thereby gaining support for artist-based radio stations along with some UI tweaks and iOS 7 compatibility improvements. Now, the app has received its second major update. And it introduces a long-awaited major feature in the form of offline listening. Specifically, Xbox Music now supports offline playback of playlists, allowing you to listen to your favorite music anytime, anywhere. To make a playlist available offline, simply turn on the "Available offline" option for that playlist. The new version of Xbox Music is available now in the App Store for free. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.0 or later. Just a couple of days ago, another well-known tech corporation updated its own music streaming app for iOS. Sony issued an update to its Music Unlimited app to add support for curated playlists along with a couple of other enhancements.
