Cydia Tweak: Phontact Brings Swipe-Based Speed Dialing To Apple's iPhone
The iOS Phone app might feature a “Favorites” tab, but true speed dialing is something Apple hasn’t yet added to its smartphone. Phontact, however, is a new jailbreak tweak that does just that, enabling a simple swipe-based speed dialing feature under iOS 7.
You can download the jailbreak tweak in the Cydia Store for $0.99, and it adds a new preferences pane to the built-in Settings app. Here, users can configure exactly how Phontact’s swipe speed dialing works: phone numbers for voice or FaceTime calls can be assigned to four different swipes at the Phone app icon – a swipe up, left, right, or down.
After configuring the package, performing the preconfigured gesture will have your Phone app make the call immediately, providing iOS device users with a much quicker means of calling their most popular contacts. As the jailbreak tweak’s developer explains in the package’s release notes: “Calling your favorite contacts, family, and friends has never been easier.”
Phontact might be a comparably simple jailbreak tweak, but it’s nevertheless something iPhone users could appreciate – especially those who frequently make calls from their handset. As mentioned, you can pick up the new jailbreak tweak in the Cydia Store for $0.99, and it requires iOS 7.
