WebMD 5.0 Connects To Your Fitness Devices To Help You Reach Your Healthy Target

June 16, 2014

While Apple may just be readying its recently announced Health app for official launch this fall, WebMD has just updated its flagship iOS app to engage health and fitness buffs in a new program called Healthy Target.

Debuting in version 5.0 of WebMD for iPhone and iPod touch, Healthy Target is a brand new section in the app dedicated to helping you form healthy habits by letting you set your goals and track your progress.

Notably, WebMD's Healthy Target allows you to connect your activity tracker, wireless scale, or glucometer to automatically track your sleep, weight, and blood sugar levels. Supported devices include those made by Fitbit, Jawbone, Withings, Entra, and Telcare. You can also track your steps if you're using an iPhone 5s.

The app then lets you view all of your health data in one place, with WebMD content and insights thrown in to provide more context to your program.

Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.1 or later, WebMD 5.0 is available now in the App Store for free.

The newly updated app also includes general performance and stability improvements.
