Cameo Video Creation App Gets First Major Update Since Being Acquired By Vimeo

July 9, 2014
Last March, Vimeo acquired the acclaimed video creation app Cameo. Now, the former has effectively made the acquisition official with the release of the latest update to the latter. Cameo received an update in April that brought private videos or cameos, Cameo of the Week and other badges, and interface tweaks and bug fixes. Now, the app has been updated with Vimeo integration and a couple of other notable features. "Cameo & Vimeo are officially BFFs," the Cameo team notes. "This release includes Vimeo integration and a completely redesigned soundtrack selection experience." Vimeo integration in Cameo enables you to sign in to the app using your Vimeo account. Subsequently, it lets you easily share your cameos to Vimeo. The new Cameo update also puts a premium on music discovery as it introduces a revamped soundtrack browser, featuring genre sorting and an interactive player for previewing tracks. Finally, the new version of Cameo emails you after you publish a video with quick links for sharing it with others. If you'd rather not receive post-publication emails, you can opt out in the app's settings. Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 7.0 or later, the new version of Cameo is available now on the App Store for free. Essentially, Cameo lets you create short videos with professional-grade effects and styles, with the option to shoot with others in real time. It was given an AppAdvice App of the Week honorable mention shortly after its launch last October and it went on to be lauded by Apple as one of the App Store’s Best of 2013. For more information, check out our original review, which concludes that Cameo is "a pretty fun little app if you’re into creating videos to share with others."
