WeChat's MojiMe lets you turn your selfies into animated emoji stickers

November 3, 2014

WeChat, the popular messaging app developed by the Chinese Internet giant Tencent, is out with a brand new standalone app called MojiMe that lets you make emoji out of your selfies.

Unlike the recently launched Bitmoji, which uses your Bitstrips cartoon avatar, MojiMe uses your actual selfie in creating emoji stickers.

It lets you take or import your portrait, select a WeChat character, and wait for your likeness to be automatically incorporated into animated stickers expressing different emotions in often amusing ways.

MojiMe also lets you create buddy emoji, which incorporate both your face and your friend’s.

Unlike Bitmoji, which offers a custom iOS 8 keyboard containing your stickers, MojiMe only lets you share your personalized stickers from the app to your chats on WeChat, with your friends via email, or on WeChat Moments or Facebook, where you can use them in a face-smacking Whack-a-Mole game.

Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.0 or later, MojiMe for WeChat is available now on the App Store for free.
