Apple selects Brushstroke as its latest App of the Week to go free

December 18, 2014

Once again, Apple has selected another fantastic app to go free as its App of the Week. For the next seven days, Brushstroke can be downloaded free. It is usually $2.99.

As the name suggests, the app is designed to turn your photos into a beautiful work of art. Along with being able to share your art to Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, users can even purchase a framed canvas print of their masterpiece.

In our original review, Christine Chan had some high praise for the well-designed app:

The design of Brushstroke is simple, yet elegant, and incredibly intuitive, as I found it quite easy to figure my way around without any help. All of the elements that you can play around with for your image are clearly labeled, and the various styles you can apply are organized neatly into their own groups, so you can get a general idea of what type of painting style it will fall into.

It also nabbed an Honorable Mention in our AppAdvice App of the Week awards shortly after its release.

A major update to the app in late October brought optimization for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus along with new painting styles, color palettes, canvases, and more.

Brushstroke is universal for the iPhone/iPad touch and iPad/iPad mini. An illustration pack can be unlocked with a $0.99 in-app purchase.
