Gameloft updates Gangstar Vegas and Asphalt 8: Airborne with new free-to-play systems
Gameloft has just released significant updates to two of its most popular iOS games, Gangstar Vegas and Asphalt 8: Airborne.
Gangstar Vegas has run into its “Colors & Crews” update. And for better or worse, with this update, the latest installment in the popular Gangstar series of open-world action games, which was released by Gameloft as a premium title in June last year, has gone free-to-play.
“The Colors & Crews update just rolled into Gangstar: Vegas, making the game completely FREE TO PLAY!” Gameloft proclaims. “There’s gonna be a lot more Gangs shootin’ and stealin’ around here. So now’s a good time to ask yourself, ‘Who’s got your back?’”
With its having gone freemium, Gangstar Vegas has gained a new currency in the form of diamonds. You can earn diamonds by completing missions or special events and spend them to unlock extra content, missions, and events.
The new version of Gangstar Vegas also features gang battles or cooperative gunfights, with support for “criminal” chat.
Moreover, it features new costumes, weapons and vehicles, including the holiday-themed elf outfits, sugar-coater gun and Santa’s sleigh.

As for Asphalt 8: Airborne, Gameloft has updated the popular free-to-play racing game with 11 new cars (including the Tramontana XTR and the Arrinera Hussarya), pro kits, a new location, and three holiday-themed tracks.
The latest update to Asphalt 8 also introduces a new token system whereby tokens can be collected by earning them in events or purchasing them in the shop and spent to get exclusive cars, refill fuel or buy boosters.
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, both Gangstar Vegas and Asphalt 8: Airborne are free to download on the App Store.
