Watch ABC for Apple TV now allows all viewers to access full episodes

December 19, 2014

ABC has just announced a significant update to its Watch ABC channel on Apple TV.

First and foremost, the newly updated Watch ABC channel allows all viewers to watch full episodes of ABC shows, including “Scandal” and “Modern Family,” without having to sign in with cable subscription credentials.

Note, though, that access to full episodes sans verified subscription is available a week after they air. For live streaming and on-demand viewing of current episodes, logging in through a cable provider is required.

Watch ABC for Apple TV has also been updated, according to ABC, with “a new bolder, immersive look and feel” along with “more short-form video.”

Moreover, it now features a continuous play mode, which, just like a similar feature added to the Netflix app for Apple TV in July, automatically plays the next episode of a TV series after finishing the previous installment.

Also available on iOS via a free-to-download app on the App Store, Watch ABC was added to the Apple TV channel lineup a year ago.

Earlier this month, Apple TV gained new channels, including UFC.TV, The Scene, Fusion, and Dailymotion, along with an updated YouTube app.
