Bean Dreams jumps to version 2.0 with support for Apple’s Metal API and more

Now is the time to jump into Bean Dreams. The amazingly fun retro platformer has just been updated to version 2.0, adding a string of new features.

First up, the game now supports Apple’s Metal API for iOS 8 devices.

While the technology has mostly been used in graphic intensive titles like Modern Combat 5: Blackout, gamers are in for a real treat in Bean Dreams. You can see raindrops, visual warping bubbles, background water reflections and other eye candy while playing.

Also, with the new ninja boots, gamers can roll up walls and jump around like a master.

Here’s a quick trailer for the new content. Click here if you can’t see it.

Bean Dreams is universal and designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded now on the App Store for $2.99.

Originally landing back in late December, our own Christine Chan called the game a “must-have” in her review. And it also received an Honorable Mention nod in our AppAdvice Game of the Week content shortly after its release. It is a sequel to the original Bean’s Quest game, which is also available to download now.

Back in mid-February, developer Kumobius updated the game with 12 more levels and a new friend for Bean – Goatee – that will accompany him through the Mystic Gardens level.

I’ve been a big fan of Bean Dreams since it was released, and I’m thrilled to see the updated version. The Metal-enhanced graphics look great on my iPhone 6 Plus.
