Thanks to Pharrell Williams, the Apple Watch has made its reality TV debut
It seems Apple Watch samples have indeed been reaching the wrists of high-profile celebrities, and judging from last night’s episode of reality TV show “The Voice,” Pharrell Williams is among the first of this lucky number.
As countless Twitter users indeed noticed (via MacRumors), Pharrell proudly sported a stainless steel, sapphire glass-coated Apple Watch featuring a white Sport Band during last night’s episode of the NBC singing show “The Voice,” for which Pharrell judges. In a couple of potentially pre-meditated actions (including the one pictured below), Pharrell brought his wrist alongside his face in order to ensure the Apple Watch featured in a shot.
So far, we’ve been unsure how Apple is going to disperse review units of the Apple Watch. In the past, of course, technology publications have traditionally received new products ahead of schedule, in order to prepare their reviews. This time around, however, a limited number of Apple Watch samples could be sent to fashion publications, as well as a smaller number of tech outlets, due to the broader, fashion-meets-tech nature of the smartwatch. Given Pharrell’s recently debuted new wrist wear, it seems high profile celebs are also going to be included in this selection.
For some time now, the Apple Watch has been in the hands and on the wrist of Christy Turlington-Burns, who is using the device in order to train for a London marathon (while also chronicling her progress, and her experiences with the Watch, in an online blog). It’s also been appearing in cover shoots for a growing number of publications, including Vogue China.
This Friday, Apple Watch preorders launch on the Apple Online Store at 12:01 a.m. PDT. Most recently, we heard from CEO Tim Cook that more than 1,000 Watch apps have been submitted to the App Store, meaning we’re going to see a healthy selection of software available when Apple’s first wearable hits retail store shelves. In between now and then, however, further high profile Apple Watch appearances are expected. Keep your eyes peeled, readers, because at this point, the Watch could be anywhere …
