The updated Masters Tournament app arrives with a real-time shot tracking feature and more
It’s a great time to be a sports fan.
The 2015 Major League Baseball season kicks into full swing today, and the annual Masters Tournament officially begins a little later this week. And just in time for the world-famous golf tournament, the companion iOS app has just been updated with a number of improvements.
First up, the app has been completely redesigned and looks great on my iPhone 6 Plus and iPad Air.
And the news stream features the latest stories, on-demand video, photo galleries, updates, and infographics from the course.
Just for the iPad, the new shot tracking section is a unique way to follow all of the action. You can follow every player and view every shot in real time. The detailed feature even offers ball locations, shots distances, and pin placements.
While it’s not as nice as actually being at the beautiful golf course, it does look like a fun way to take an in-depth look at the tournament.
And as a nice touch, iPad app users can watch a live simulcast of the ESPN coverage during the Thursday and Friday action. The live simulcast of the weekend CBS coverage will be available on both the iPhone and iPad.
The Masters Tournament app is universal and designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.
Officially starting on Thursday in Augusta, Georgia, the tournament will wrap up with the final round on Sunday, April 12.
