Love is in the air: The Sims FreePlay gets Valentine's Day update
The so-called month of love is here. And if you’re one of the millions of players who have fallen in love with The Sims FreePlay, you may have been waiting with bated breath for the game’s Valentine’s Day update. Well, in that case, your wait is over.
Enjoy a tropical romance
Released in December 2011, the official mobile edition of the popular life simulation game The Sims received its first update in February 2012. Kicking off the game’s penchant for “seasonally aware” updates, that very first update turned out to be Valentine’s Day-themed.

Fast forward to four years later, and here comes another Valentine’s Day-themed update to The Sims FreePlay.
What makes this update quite notable is that it invites you to treat your Sims to a romantic getaway in a tropical island paradise, aptly named Tropical Romance Island. There you can have them play beach volleyball, snuggle up in a hammock, and enjoy a night of sweet serenading by a bonfire.
Make like a mermaid
The new romantic version of The Sims FreePlay also lets you arrange an overwater candlelight dinner and even a beachside wedding between Sims in love.
What’s more, the game’s Tropical Romance Island features a Mermaid Reef where your Sims can make a splash — literally as well as figuratively — as they get transformed into mermaids and mermen.
There’s also a hidden bungalow where your Sims can participate in a morning yoga session in search of inner peace. Now isn’t that just lovely?
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, The Sims FreePlay is available on the App Store as a free-to-play game.
Published by Electronic Arts (EA), The Sims FreePlay is developed by Firemonkeys, the same studio behind two of EA’s popular racing games, Real Racing 3 and Need for Speed: No Limits. Both of those games were updated last month with new content and enhancements.
