Gameloft has launched Dungeon Hunter 3 (free) in the App Store. However, unlike the previous Dungeon Hunter titles, which were indefinitely considered to be RPGs (that's Role Playing Games), this new installation has strayed away from the genre, adopting an arena mode that's based on Gameloft's oft-critiqued "freemium" model of publishing iOS applications.

Evernote has recently released Skitch for iPad (free) in the App Store.

Onion Magic Answer Ball ($0.99) is a recently released iPhone app from The Onion. The application, which is rather a lot like a virtual Magic Eight Ball, allows users to ask it a number of questions and gives random answers. Furthermore, the app can ask users humorous questions which can then be shared to Facebook.

KAYAK has recently updated its iPad application, making it a universal app (that's compatible with all of Apple's iOS devices), and adding a whole load of new features to the iPad version of the popular application.

Pulse News for iPhone and Pulse News for iPad (both free) have recently received a great update, adding a redesigned catalogue, a new feature called "Smart Dock" and an improved user interface to the popular applications.

Apple has recently approved a Bluetooth 4.0 heart rate monitor application called CardioMapper. The app, which is available to download for $1.99, provides "full real time and post exercise analysis," allowing users to track their burned calories using the iPhone's GPS.

Word Lens (free) has recently received an update. Now, users of the application (which, using augmented reality, can translate text in real time) can purchase and download a French language pack, allowing users to translate English into French and French into English in a matter of seconds, using their iOS device's camera.

Since December 16, Apple fans still rocking an iPhone or iPod touch on iOS 3.1.3 have been unable to download iOS applications directly from the App Store. Instead, iOS device owners stuck running iOS 3.1.3 must purchase and download applications in iTunes and sync them across to their iPhone or iPod touch.

Postmates is a new service that allows iPhone users to have an item delivered quickly and easily, thanks to a recently released dedicated iPhone application. The app, Postmates Mobile, allows users to connect with couriers and bike messengers within San Francisco, Oakland, Emeryville and Berkeley.

GoCal for Google Calendar HD ($4.99) has recently received a great update, which makes a variety of changes to the popular Google Calendar iPad client.

Taposé is an upcoming iPad application that can provide users with a powerful, fully-featured word processor that is unlike anything else in the App Store. The app is currently in review, and should be available to download in the near future.

Eventbrite is planning on launching a new iOS application in the App Store, which will allows Apple fans to manage their Eventbrite tickets and access event information from a mobile device.

Electronic Arts has recently launched The Sims FreePlay in the App Store. The application, which is a universal app and is free to download, allows fans of The Sims to interact with their own virtual friends, build houses, care for pets and even grow gardens all for free.

The popular Civilization Revolution ($6.99) and Civilization Revolution HD ($12.99) applications have recently received an update. Now, fans of both apps can enjoy iCloud game saves, Game Center support (which adds 29 achievements), much improved visuals and a scenario generator.

Gameloft has recently released The Adventures of Tintin - The Game ($6.99) in Apple's App Store. The universal application allows iOS fans to explore the exciting world of Tintin (and Snowy!) on an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. In the game, players must sneak past guards, challenge enemies to sword fights and even pilot planes.

Apple fans, avoid this application: Craft - Build Terrain. Though it might appear to be some kind of MineCraft client, the application is, in fact, a $1.99 scam that you will undoubtedly regret purchasing and downloading.

Today, the universal Sonic CD iOS game should launch in the App Store. The application, which is a port of Sega's 1993 title, is already available in New Zealand and, once in the United States, should be available to download for the introductory price of $1.99.
