WWDC 2017: It's Time to Say Hello to Apple's New HomePod
Apple wants to reinvent home music. After months of rumors, Apple just announced the HomePod at WWDC 2017.
The 7-inch-tall speaker is packed with tons of technology including an Apple A8 chip, a seven-tweeter array, and a 4-inch designed Apple woofer.
Users can interact with the speaker using Siri and can find new tunes via Apple Music. Along with music, Siri will be able to provide news, weather, traffic, reminders, control HomeKit devices and more.
When Siri is engaged, the familiar waveform will appear on top of the speaker. There is also integrated touch controls. Six microphones will allow the speaker to determine where the person is speaking.
It will be priced at $349 and arrive this December. You can select from a space gray or white version. The speaker will first be available in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia. Buyers in other countries will be able to purchase the speaker in 2018.
