AT&T's GoPhone prepaid brand is to receive a significant update from today, adding official support for the iPhone, and support for LTE/HSPA+ cellular data networks, according to MacRumors. As such, iPhone owners will now be able to connect their handset up to one of GoPhone's attractive plans, with one such plan offering customers unlimited talk time, unlimited texts, and 1GB of data for $65 per month. While it was previously possible for iPhone users to sign up for a GoPhone plan, such plans did not allow for cellular data access.
MacRumors explains:
For iPhone purchases, GoPhone customers can either bring their own off-contract iPhone or purchase one in-store at the full no-committment price. Existing GoPhone iPhone customers will be automatically updated with support for cellular data access on June 21, but support representatives will be able to manually upgrade customers before that time upon request.Further iPhone price plans are available with GoPhone for $25 and $50, though neither include data (which must, for these two packages, be purchased separately). The first prepaid iPhone plan launched some five years after the first-generation handset, however such plans have since increased in number. Presently Cricket, Virgin Mobile, Straight Talk, and Aio, among others, all offer prepaid plans in the United States. For more information on GoPhone's update, visit AT&T's website.
