Newsify Gains Further iOS 7 Optimizations, Feedly Article Images And Other Tweaks

Newsify, one of the most popular feed reader apps on iOS, has just received an update that mostly includes additional optimizations for iOS 7. Newsify was first updated for iOS 7 on the day of the operating system's launch last September. Specifically, it was updated then with support for background sync and notifications on iOS 7. Now, the app has been updated with support for background sync even when a device passcode is enabled. The latest update to Newsify also enables iOS 7's ultra convenient swipe-from-edge-to-go-back gesture. In addition, it adds Safari Reading List integration to the app's supported sharing channels. Originally a Google Reader-connected app, Newsify transitioned into a Feedly-connected one ahead of the shutdown of Google's RSS feed aggregation service early last July. And now, Newsify has taken its integration with Feedly one step further. When available, Feedly article images are now shown in Newsify for feed items that don't have images. This new feature can be disabled in the app's sync settings. • Added the option to display article source in newspaper view on iPhone/iPod touch (enable in settings)
  • Added swipe to the left gesture to mark items read/starred in article list (can be configured in Advanced settings)
  • Added support for back to Newsify button when opening links in Chrome
  • Added Helvetica Neue font option
  • Additional improvements and bug fixes
The new version of Newsify is available now in the App Store for free. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later.
