Resistance Is Futile: Successful iOS Hacker To Join Apple Later This Year
The best way to get a job at Apple? Make a name for yourself in the jailbreak scene, of course! After all, it worked for Nicholas Allegra (@comex) and Peter Hajas, and now the same method seems to have worked for another jailbreak mastermind: @winocm.
In a recent update to his Twitter profile, @winocm announced the news to his followers, many of whom have used the hacker's recent iOS 6 untethered jailbreak solution – p0sixspwn – to “liberate” their iOS device under iOS 6.1.3 and iOS 6.1.4.
I figured now is the right time to say this, I will be working at Apple starting later this year.
Of course, this is great news for @winocm; from what we're hearing it's likely he's secured an internship with Apple, and we'd like to congratulate the hacker and wish him all the best.
This does, however, mean the jailbreak scene is going to be one hacker down as of “later this year.” Apple's Borg-like assimilation process when it comes to top jailbreak talent appears to be working well; if you can't beat them, pay them to join you, right?
It's not an easy ride at Apple, though. As you may remember, JailbreakMe creator @comex indeed joined the Cupertino, Calif. company but was subsequently fired a year later because he apparently “forgot to reply to an email.”
We hope it works out for @winocm. Our advice? If email is so important, ditch the Mail app in Mavericks and take a more dependable alternative – like Sparrow – for a spin.
