Cydia Tweak: ActiveBoard For iOS 7 Rethinks iOS Notifications

May 25, 2014

Tired of the usual badge notifications in Apple's iOS? Then consider downloading ActiveBoard, a recent addition to the Cydia Store that rethinks how notifications work on our favorite mobile operating system.

The new $1.99 jailbreak tweak “delivers pulsing lights and fluid animation style to your Home screen icons,” developer and designer Filippo Bigarella and Surenix explain in the package's release notes. Once installed, red pulsing lights alert users when there are unread notifications on their iOS device; white notifications, on the other hand, highlight iOS apps which “are truly running in the background.”

It's definitely a smart solution, and should help users maintain a higher degree of control over the applications running on their smartphone. The light-based notification system is far from intrusive, and looks a lot better than the slightly archaic badge notifications Apple continues to use in iOS 7.

Best of all, jailbreakers can enjoy ActiveBoard on their iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch; it's optimized for iOS 7.0.x-powered devices.

As mentioned, ActiveBoard can be downloaded on the Cydia Store for $1.99.
