Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage, the first iOS title to be published under Rovio’s “Rovio Stars” program, has received a great update adding new levels, boss fights, side quests, and more. Best of all, the HD iPad version of Icebreaker is now a universal app that also supports the iPhone and iPod touch, and it’s available at a discounted price for a limited time only.
You can pick up Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage (Universal) for $1.99 on the App Store, which is one dollar off its usual $2.99 price tag. On the other hand, Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage, which is optimized for the iPhone and iPod touch only, is still retailing for $0.99. The good news though is that both applications have received the aforementioned update, which is now live on the App Store.
Icebreaker 1.2.0 makes a number of significant changes to the popular game. First, it adds four brand new levels, and this includes a “spectacular boss fight.” There are also new side quests which are available as part of the level pack, and all-new achievements feature in the game, too. It’s worth adding that while Icebreaker is supported by in-app purchases (IAPs), developer Nitrome is offering this latest content entirely free of charge.
For users of the now-universal Icebreaker app, iCloud-powered game saves have been added to application. This of course means that Icebreaker gamers can have their progress sync between their iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
As we explained back when Icebreaker first reached the App Store, here’s what iOS device owners can expect from the new title:
Like the wildly popular game that put Rovio on the map, Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage is a physics-based puzzle game characterized by a delightfully offbeat brand of humor.
In the game, you have to slice through ice in order to save stranded Vikings from trolls, traps, and other trials and tribulations.
