Google updates Chrome with iOS 8 compatibility including Share extension support

September 23, 2014

A few days after the official release of iOS 8, Google has updated the iOS edition of its popular Chrome Web browser with support for the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system.

First and foremost, the latest update to Chrome for iOS brings improvements for the app’s compatibility with iOS 8.

As it turns out, these improvements include support for the operating system’s App Extensions. Consequently, you can now share links right from Chrome using iOS 8′s Share extension feature.

For example, if you have the new iOS 8-optimized version of Pocket installed on your iOS device, you can now save Web articles to the popular read-later service directly from Chrome’s Share menu.

The new version of Chrome also includes stability improvements and bug fixes.

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, Chrome is available on the App Store for free.

Last week, Google updated its official search app for iOS, thereby rebranding the app from Google Search to simply Google and enhancing the app with Chromecast integration. The company also updated MyGlass, the official iOS companion app of its Glass wearable device, with support for automatic photo syncing.
