Path now lets you easily message places through its Path Talk app

October 1, 2014

Path Talk, the standalone messaging app developed by Path, has just received its first major update.

As promised, the update introduces Places, a new feature that lets you easily communicate with places, or at least the owners, managers, and customer service representatives thereof.

Coming as a result of Path’s acquisition of TalkTo, Places allows you to message stores, restaurants, and other establishments to book reservations, get prices, check in-store product availability, and more. Interestingly, it employs Path’s network of so-called Path Agents.

“Never wait on hold again,” Path says. “Our new 24/7 global network of Path Agents picks up the phone and calls the business for you, gets the information and texts it back to you, saving you valuable time for friends and family, making your life easier and bringing you closer to the places in your life.”

Note that Places is initially available in the U.S. and Canada only.

Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 7.0 or later, Path Talk is available on the App Store for free.

Launched last June, Path Talk is a spinoff of the messaging functionality of Path’s namesake flagship social networking app.

Aside from the new Places function, Path Talk features ephemeral messages, automatic statuses, one-swipe quick replies, stickers, and voice messaging.
