Apple implements price increase for iOS and Mac Developer Program in UK and Germany
Apple has increased the price of its iOS and Mac Developer Program, which allows developers to build and distribute apps using the company's official toolsets and platforms, in at least a couple of countries.
As reported by Apfel Page (via 9to5Mac), the company has brought about price hikes for the annual registration cost of the program in the U.K., from £60 to £79, and Germany, from €80 to €99.
However, the program is still being offered in the U.S. for $99 per year.
It's yet unconfirmed if the price increase will be applied to other countries, or if it's effective only in certain countries in Europe, perhaps on account of currency fluctuations or general pricing adjustments in the region.
The price increase comes shortly after Apple introduced a 14-day return policy on downloads from the App Store, the Mac App Store, the iBooks Store, and the iTunes Store in the European Union (EU).
And effective today, as it announced last month, Apple is implementing a significant change in the taxation of purchases made on the App Store in the EU. Rather than levying the same tax for App Store purchases across all EU territories, the company is now imposing taxes based on the customer's country of residence.
Also last month, Apple was forced to increase the prices of products on its online store and apps on the App Store in Russia because of extreme fluctuations in the ruble.
